Yesterday we made our now annual trip to Hampton Court Palace to deliver the flowers for their ‘Florimania’ event this coming weekend
It was our absolute pleasure to, once again, be working with Jane Rickard and her team of flower arrangers from Surrey NAFAS
The theme for this years’ event is “Flowers from around the world: exploring the continents” so a vast array of flowers were chosen by the arrangers including the largest quantity of tropical flowers we have ever supplied
The photographs below were taken during the handout and conditioning of the flowers and we look forward to sharing photos of the finished arrangements soon
Nursery Fresh is delighted to have once again worked with Jane Rickard and the flower arrangers of Surrey NAFAS in supplying the flowers for ‘Florimania’ at Hampton court Palace this weekend.
This year’s event entitled “Ladies with Flowers” will include floral displays and flower arranging demonstrations inspired by some of the most notable garden-loving Queens from Queen Mary II and her collection of exotic plants at Hampton Court Palace to Queen Charlotte at Kew Gardens.
Below are a few photos taken during the flowers sorting and delivery stages and we hope to post photos of the finished results soon.
Following our delivery of all the plant material earlier in the week it was lovely to receive the following email from Jane Rickard
“Just to say a big thank you for the simply gorgeous selection of flowers that you delivered to us today. Really fabulous and as well organised as usual.
It is always a pleasure to work with you all.
We are delighted to announce details of the following events which will take place at our premises in Horndean during November and December
Tickets for these events generally sell quite quickly so if you wish to attend please book your place as soon as possible
Little did we know when we were asked to supply flowers to one of our customers in Stratford that her arrangement would appear in the national press as it was paraded through the streets of the city as part of the celebrations to mark the 400th Anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare last weekend.
We can supply flowers to virtually any location in mainland UK via our overnight courier service so if you need flowers for any occasion please do get in touch to discuss your specific requirements

International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
For the United Nations, International Women’s Day has been observed on 8 March since 1975 and so this year the day will follow just 2 days after UK Mother’s Day which, with Easter falling early, comes only 3 weeks after Valentine’s Day.
The effect that International Women’s Day will have on UK Mother’s Day prices, being only 2 days apart, is as always about supply and demand. International Women’s Day has a huge market in Eastern Europe with a demand to match. The production from growers cannot match the demand from Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day in such a short space of time because flowers need time to grow. As a result of this and low volumes in the auctions, chances are the prices will be high.
There are certain flowers that are very popular for International Women’s Day, such as Chrysanthemums, Lilies and Roses, so you can be certain that these will be very expensive this Mother’s Day.
Whilst it is difficult for us to predict prices at anytime of the year it will be particularly hard during this period but rest assured we will endeavour to buy at the best price but without compromising on our usual standards and quality. However, it is worth remembering that prices for all flowers could be high at this time so do bear this in mind when pricing for any work you have planned.

On Tuesday afternoon we welcomed a group of ladies to the warehouse who had requested a tailor made workshop. The group, who have previously named themselves ‘The Flower Fairies,’ were shown how to make a front facing modern hand tied arrangement with an autumnal theme, a corsage and finally Clare demonstrated how to feather a carnation.
Tailor made workshops can be organised for a minimum of 4 people and can generally cover any theme of your choice. If you are interested in arranging your own workshop do get in touch.
We now have our Christmas sundries on display so do come in and take a look. From pine cones and cinnamon sticks to birch and ting ting we have a wide selection of products ideally suited for creating Christmas arrangements
Yesterday morning we were delighted to welcome Nina Bates and her team of helpers from Chidham Church to sort the flowers for their Flower Festival. Over the past few weeks we have been working with Nina on her flower order which we then purchased directly from our suppliers in Holland. To save time on their set up day, it was decided that a small team would come over to our warehouse so they could sort the flowers into individual orders. We then delivered the flowers directly to the Church this morning.
The Flower Festival, entitled “Magna Carta – The Flowering of Democracy,” takes place at St Mary’s Church, Cot Lane, Chidham, West Sussex on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on Sunday 21st June from 12.30 – 6 p.m. Entry is free and refreshments will be available.
As you can see from the photographs below the ladies all had great fun sorting their flowers
Sally was delighted to visit Hampton Court Palace on Saturday afternoon to view the exhibits created by the very talented members of Surrey Area of NAFAS for ‘Florimania 2015. All the arrangements were made using plant material supplied by Nursery Fresh with each one depicting a different era of flower arranging from the past five centuries. As you will see from the photographs below each one was stunning and it was a privilege to view such creative work. A big thank you to Hampton Court and all those involved.
